Expressive mark making folded book

Give your creative practice a reboot, with a day of expressive mixed media mark making, using a range of art materials including some simple print and exciting resist techniques. All carefully constructed into a unique book form, giving you a lovely keep sake.

Intaglio Printmaking

Using a combination of intaglio techniques – drypoint and collagraph, draw, scratch, stick and collage your image onto a plate, and print using an intaglio press. Then explore the different ways to bring life to your image through colour, including chine-collee and viscosity inking.

Wednesday 20th June 10am – 4pm

Gum Arabic transfer printmaking

This very accessible form of litho printmaking uses photo copies to print from, giving you the chance to reproduce a range of printed matter onto different surfaces including fabric, with or without a printing press. You will be taken through each stage of the process step by step, enabling you to create layer images , with a chance to make them into a simple book, if you choose to.

Bude Writing Retreat

Come along to 3 linked workshops to inspire your writing and learn about book publishing. Sessions include: Workshop 1) What makes a book sell – and how you can transfer this to your own writing – and how you can delight readers. Workshop 2)  Learning from Comparative Texts – Using a nominated book (read in advance), each member will make notes from the opening 5 chapters to discuss structure, style and the elements of a successful read. Workshop 3) Practical Editing Workshop – A chance to focus line-by-line on writing. Attendees can submit up to 3 chapters of their work which will be reviewed.
