Bude Earth Heroes – Earth Festival Online
Bude Earth Heroes
You may remember that last year’s festival kicked off with a rallying and thoroughly entertaining speech by local legend, writer and #2minutebeachclean creator, Martin Dorey. Martin updated us on all of #2minutebeachclean’s achievements and his plans for the future. Have a look, it’s an inspiring watch….
We are incredibly proud to say that since then, #2minutebeachclean has become a bone fide registered charity and its strength and popularity as a movement continues to increase in momentum, especially with the addition of its Guardian Angel beach brigade now stationed around Devon and Cornwall. Martin then went on to award many of Bude’s environmental activists with a Bude Earth Hero stone award in recognition of their service to the planet and all of us here in Bude. We agree with Martin, we think Bude’s green groups and communities truly are setting an example for the rest of the world. Our very own Mayor of Bude-Stratton, Bob Willingham was one such recipient, who then duly surprised Martin by awarding him with his very own ‘Global Bude Earth Hero’ award. Well deserved Martin! Other Earth Hero recipients included:- Ado Shorland – Widemouth Task Force, seen here receiving his award.
Pete Cooper – The Crackington Crew; Claire Giner and Zoe – Parley Beach Cleans; The Roundabout Group – Sue Read, Kim Stephens and Annie Creo; The Cleaner Seas Project – Avril Sainsbury seen here accepting her reward and talking about the important role Budehaven students have played in the project….
A Greener Bude – Avril Sainsbury, Claire Giner, Deb Rosser, Simon Browning; BRAG – Paul & Laila Crum and all their fabulous group; Friends of the Earth – Simon Browning and Rob Meredith; The Refill Shop Team – Deb Rosser & Team; The Repair Cafe – Tilly Clarke and Elidh McCormick, Trevor Plant from Trev’s Taxi
Deb Rosser – Greener Bude, The ReFILL Shop, The Repair Shop and many, many more. Deb you ARE the spirit of a truly green Bude. A special thank you to you!
