Bude’s Earth Festival 2020

‘Bude’s Earth Day – Back For A Successful Second Year ‘

After an overwhelmingly positive response to last year’s event, we are pleased to announce that The Castle will again be hosting  ‘Bude’s Earth Festival’  on Sunday June 7th, 11-4pm 2020.

Bude’s Earth Festival is a fun yet informative environmental day dedicated to the protection of our planet and all those we share it with.

The day will offer a variety of eco-friendly workshops and talks by internationally acclaimed speakers and experts in the environmental arena. The key aims of the event are to educate the community on local, national and global environmental concerns, and share lifestyle changes that can be adopted to help the planet thrive.

The Willoughby and Blanchminster Room will run a full itinerary of talks covering subjects such as sustainable living initiatives, ocean health, plastic-free lifestyles, off-grid living, climate change and the importance of community in our world. Speakers include Avril Sainsbury, Cleaner Seas Group; Natalie Fee, City to Sea; Satish Kumar, Editor Emeritus – Resurgence & Ecologist and Nick Rosen, Off-Grid Living Specialist and Award Winning Film Maker.  A full schedule of times can be found here.

From the tepee on the lawn our very own medicinal herbalist will be revealing the wonders of natural medicine and also holding foraging walks around the Castle grounds.

There will be storytelling and face painting for children throughout the day.

Creative workshops for both children and adults will be held in the Studio, including a pebble painting workshop for young children in the morning.

There will also be a flower workshop where you can learn to make your own flower-crowns – a festival must for the summer months.

A free yoga class on the bandstand will start the day followed by live music from local musicians and bands throughout the event.

On the lawns sculptures made from recycled products will form an arts trail.

Local schools will be getting involved with students presenting their thoughts on climate change and ideas to help conserve the future health of their planet earth.

There will also be a marketplace on the lawn with local businesses and their stalls providing an array of goods and services, including arts, food, gifts and books.

With some fantastic food on offer, live music, and lots of educational fun activities, this will make the perfect day out for all the family.
