We were delighted to be welcoming Gwynngala Art to our Blanchminster Room this year, but alas it was not meant to be. We will however be inviting the group back to The Castle in the Spring of 2021 and can’t wait to have their stunning work on show for all of Bude to relish in. In the meantime, please have a look at their work on instagram and facebook book. We enclose a little bit of information about them here below – until 2021 Gwynngala!
About Gwynngala Art
Twelve artists originally formed Gwynngala Art back in 1996 when most of them were living in North Cornwall, isolated by miles of countryside and moor. They each felt the need for more interaction with other artists further afield in order to benefit from more group shows in Devon and Cornwall. This they did, with great success, and for many years the group ran “The Southgate Arch”, in Launceston, as a gallery. Gwynngala is the Cornish word for September, the month of the group’s first ever exhibition in 1996.
The group now comprises of around twenty-one members. Dynamic and fluid, there are some changes in membership every year, but they retain the diversity of styles and work to ensure that Gwynngala continues to go from strength to strength. The group has a stimulating range of subjects and mediums including Paintings – Prints – Cards – Sculpture – Pottery – Jewellery – Textiles. They also sell a range of cards and various prints of their work.
