Wild Futures – The Monkey Sanctuary, Looe

Wild Futures is a UK primate welfare and conservation charity campaigning, educating and providing sanctuary to primates in need. They are also keen supporters of projects that protect primates overseas as well as habitats worldwide. Many of us here in Bude will have taken the journey over to Looe to visit The Monkey Sanctuary which is where Wild Futures’ rescue and rehabilitation work is carried out. The project was founded in 1964, and now has a well-established reputation for offering outstanding levels of welfare and innovative care management for all of its primate residents.

Like many, The Monkey Sanctuary is currently struggling because of its temporary closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Home to 40 monkeys who have all been rescued from situations of abuse and neglect within the UK primate pet trade, the sanctuary’s main priority is to make sure that all its animals have all the food, medicines and continued care required, until the sanctuary is able to open again.

The sanctuary is therefore appealing for emergency help to get them through this uncertain time.  We understand how difficult it is for everyone at the moment, but if you feel able, please could you make a donation to their emergency appeal today. Even a regular commitment of £10 per month would help enormously.  If not, just a share on social media could make all the difference as every action and every penny, matters in these uncertain times.

As Wild Futures say, “Despite the challenges, we will continue caring for the rescued monkeys in our care and continue with our charity work to the best of our ability. The kindness that people are showing in this world wide crisis is overwhelming and together we are stronger and we know that with support we will come through this.  No matter how small, your contribution will help us to continue caring for the rescued monkeys here.”

Please feel free to donate today at and follow them at Wild Futures’ Monkey Sanctuary on Facebook  to receive further updates.
